MANILA, Philippines- International singing sensation Charice received several standing ovations from her fellow Filipinos during the highly successful “David Foster and Friends Live in Manila” concert on Saturday.

“Binigyan ako ng standing ovation sa buong performance, sa lahat-lahat ng kinanta ko last night, sobrang kakaiba ‘yong feeling,” Charice told ABS-CBN News in an interview on Sunday.

More than 10,000 fans trooped to the Araneta Coliseum to witness the once-in-a-lifetime performance of the Filipino singer together with international stars Natalie Cole, the Canadian Tenors, Peter Cetera, and American Idol’s Ruben Studdard.

The YouTube sensation wowed the crowd after rendering powerful and pitch-perfect Celine Dion’s “Power of Love," “To Love You More,” and “All by Myself.”

Charice also performed her chart-topping song “Pyramid.” She also sang songs from the movie “The Bodyguard” where she was most applauded.

“Thank you so much sa lahat ng Filipinos na pumunta. Sobrang successful noong concert at super na-amaze si Sir David sa crowd,” said Charice.

“Journey” lead singer Arnel Pineda, Randy Santiago and Pilita Corrales were reportedly spotted in the audience.

According to an article posted in her fan site, Foster even invited Pineda to sing on stage. Santiago and Corrales were also given a chance by Foster to perform for half a minute.

Cetera sang "You're the Inspiration," "If You Leave Me Now," and "Glory of Love." Cole performed "Hallelujah" and "The Prayer," while Studdard sang "I Swear."

'It's a 10'

The Candian musician described his Manila experience as fantastic and memorable, giving it a highest rating of 10.

“I had the great time, it’s fantastic. In the scale of 1-10, it’s 10,” said Foster.

Adam Lambert Invades Manila!

It was a night where glamour reigned in the best way. Glamrock idol Adam Lambert lit up the Manila night sky with his spectacular performances, tiptop choreography, and soaring vocals. It definitely made us wonder where this singer got his energy as Adam opened the Glamnation Tour: Live In Manila with a riveting medley of “Voodoo”, “Ring Of Fire”, and “Down The Rabbit Hole” clad in a top hat, coat tails and cane. The master showman was here and we were all ears. “Hello Manila welcome to the Glamnation Tour!” he boomed amidst a stage transformed into an eerie magical forest complete with laser lights, sensual dancers and a band delivering pulsating beats.
The next song was something Manila was very familiar with, and the crowd definitely showed their appreciation. Adam launched into “For Your Entertainment” before greeting the throngs of people with, “My band rocks! Manila, are you having fun?” At the back of a stage was an LCD screen which flashed images related to the spectacle, a ring of fire, a skull and crossbones, all adding to the mood. It couldn’t be denied though, every single eye in the audience was on Adam. The all-out performer then launched into the sexually-charged ‘Fever” clad in a black open-chested glittery top and tight leather pants. Ardent fans in the audience were wondering alud, would he do it? And as always Adam didn’t disappoint. After some winks, a few batting of eyes the lip lock between Adam and bassist Tommy Joe Ratliff ensued amidst giddy cheers from the audience, one man even shouting, “ AdamI love you!” Talk about pushing the envelope, the envelope was on the floor, in shreds, and the crowd was begging for more. Hand us our thermometers please!

For the next song, “Sleepwalker” thumping beats, a flaming LCD screen and sexy dancers in voodoo garb filled the stage as Adam descended the stage in a black cape, looking like a prince of darkness. When the song was done the glamrock idol sat on a stool and greeted the crowd, “It’s good to finally be in the Philippines. The theme of tonights show is love,” The singer, looking very much like a harbinger of love, explained that his goal for tonight is to show all forms of love, even the ones that break people’s hearts. “If we didn’t know heartache like that, we wont know true love,” he shared before launching into a heartrending acoustic version of “Whataya Want From Me.

Continuing into the vibe previously set Adam went acoustic for the two numbers that followed, “Soaked” “Broken Open,” and shared a piece of advice with his audience “The first step to finding true love is you gotta love yourself,” before breaking into the hopeful ballad “Aftermath”. But before the crowd fell into a lull Adam was up and at it with “Music Again” “Surefire Winners” and “Strut”. He didn’t have to say it the lyrics of his songs explained it all, after pain there is love, there is music, and you will still come out a winner if you allow yourself to.
For the finale Adam, who changed into a black and blue sleeveless top and pants with an “A” at the back shared the message of the entire show, something he wanted his audience to walk home with tonight, “No matter how much money fame, success or sex in your life it really doesn’t mean much unless its’ connected with love, love!” He then proceeded to introduce his dancers Sasha Mallory. Taylor Greene, Terrence Spencer, choreographer Brooke Wendle, and band bassist Tommy Joe Ratliff, musical director and guitarist Monte Pittman, drummer Isaac Carpenter, and keyboardist Camila Grey.

The lights suddenly turned off and everything grew to a close. Was it the end? Before his final goodbye Adam performed an acoustic version of “Mad World” the song that earned him a standing ovation from former American Idol judge Simon Cowell . It was finally over but the amazing musical memories, the life lessons, the feeling of watching such an epic musical night with the one and only glamrock idol will stay with us forever. “Thank you Manila, “ he uttered. No Thank you Adam for gracing us with your music.

Taylor Swift Live In Manila (Update)

SCOOP: There has been so much talk about exactly when Taylor Swift’s Manila concert will be, if at all. There have been many speculations and even misleading publicity that the concert will be this October, which was later moved to November.

According to Ovation Productions’ Renen de Guia, promoter of the hugely successful concerts in Manila (of, among others, Lady Gaga, Usher and Tears For Fears) and now the officially confirmed promoter of Taylor Swift in Manila, Taylor’s concert has been scheduled for Feb. 2011 and cannot be on an earlier date as the tour has been carefully planned to come after the release of her new album, Speak Now, which according to MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) marketing director, Wilson Cruz, is set to be released worldwide this Oct. 25 and in Asia the next day. This highly anticipated second international album of Swift’s includes the current hit single Mine.

I checked with Wilson and he confirmed both Swift’s October album release date and her February concert per advice they received from Universal Music Group International head office. According to Renen, Ovation Productions will come out with a special announcement on Nov. 1 regarding Taylor Swift’s February concert.

“This is in synchronization with all countries in Southeast Asia participating in the tour,” said Renen.

In the meantime, Taylor Swift fans clubs in the Philippines are invited to contact Ovation Productions at special hotlines 0915-4744397 (Globe) and 0949-4944954 (Smart).

Jay Park live in Manila, October 3, 2010

Thanks Sir Jude!!

Staring with the song that made the word take notice Korean pop star Jay Park set the crowd on fire last October 3, 2010 at SMX Convention center with these lyrics...“Beautiful girls, all over the world, I could be chasing, but my time would be wasted, they got nothing on you, baby….” Wearing a crisp whie jacket, silver belt and jeans the singer sent the audience into a frenzy when he inserted Korean lyrics into the famous Bruno Mars tune. The Jay Park Manila Fan Meet had started and judging from the audience’s reaction it was well worth the wait by some fans who stood in line as early as 12 pm to catch a glimpse of their Kpop idol in action.

The cool cat performer performed “Demon,” which is part of of the upcoming movie “Hype Nation,” and is produced by world-famous Teddy Riley, for his second number. The Kpop star was joined by his back up dance crew the “Art Of Movement” dancers namely Tony “Dialtone” Orduna, Andrew Baterina (J Park’s Pinoy choreogapher), Daniel “Step Roc” Jerome (another Filipino) Felipe “Junior” Orduna, Chase “Cha Cha” Malone and Hep Da Tightes. After “Demon” J Park launched into another cover, the bumping and grinding “You Got It Bad” by R and B superstar Usher.

Upon seeing their idol perform in person the fans wanted to get even more up and close with their idol, thus the question and answer portion ensued. The Art Of Movement dancers were asked to hold up cards with an X and O on them, X if they disagree with the statement and O if they agree. Among the questions asked was if Jay Park prefers Korean or Filipina women to which he said he likes them both. Fans were also eager to know what Jay Park does like to do in his spare time, the handsome star revealed that he loves to play the online game Starcraft. When the q & a portion was over, Jay Park played another game with his eager fans, this one involving some body action, two girls got into a riveting dance showdown with their Korean idol.

The show ended with Jay Sean singing his single Bestie” ( which was produced by his co dance crew member Cha Cha Malone). The former 2PM band member also thanked everyone who came to see the Korean popstar perform. “Mahal ko kayo I cant express how thankful I am. Maraming, maraming salamat, thank you guys peace” he said simply before doing what the enthusiastic girls shouting on the audience were asking him to do.. take off his shirt! Truly, another Kpop star has lit up the Manila sky and we have to thank concert producers Wilbros Entertainment for it.

Wilbros Entertainment has been in the business of bringing in foreign artists for quite some time now, stay tuned as this intrepid group of brothers continue to make music lovers and concert goers dreams come true. Till next time MCS Kpop fans, because if its’ Kpop MCS is all over it!
